1. Install the extension
Get the unmodified BugRelay extension folder from your administrator. Open your browser’s extension manager, enable Developer mode, choose Load unpacked and select that folder.

Pin BugRelay to the toolbar. A Chrome Web Store listing is not available yet. Never load the test-only browser profile or modified test manifest.
2. Connect a project
Sign in, create your workspace/project, then open Settings → SDK & API keys. Generate a project capture token. Enter the dashboard origin and token in extension review. Tokens expire after 24 hours and can be revoked. They remain in the review tab’s memory, so enter one again after reopening.
3. Choose screenshot or video
Open a normal HTTP/HTTPS website. Capture screenshot only creates a still image. Start diagnostics capture records bounded errors/network metadata. Record video opens an explicit sharing flow; choose the website surface and keep the recorder page open.
Stop from the recorder or the browser’s sharing control. Video limits are two minutes/20 MiB; no audio/microphone is requested. Browser settings/store pages and some protected surfaces cannot be captured.
4. Review the evidence
Drag an opaque mask over screenshot secrets. Blur visually obscures a selected area; masks fully cover it. Pins, arrows, pencil, text, circle, line and crop help explain the issue. Undo/redo applies to edits. These tools do not redact video frames: play the clip and explicitly approve it, or remove it. Diagnostic text redaction is best effort.
5. Keep the same draft when retrying
Reviewed drafts and video are saved locally for up to 24 hours. If upload is interrupted, reconnect and retry the same draft; its client ID and video hash prevent duplicate submissions. An optional reconnect retry works while the authorized review stays open. Reopening requires a new connection. Closing the browser does not start background uploads automatically.
6. If something isn’t working
Unsupported command / old version: export unsaved edits or copy their text, reload the existing extension card, close the old review and reopen it from the toolbar. Don’t discard the draft to fix a version mismatch.
Sharing denied: restart video from an explicit button click and choose the intended surface. Connection failed: check the dashboard origin, token expiry and network. Report saved, video failed: keep the same draft and retry.
